An Azerbaijani delegation led by Huseyn Huseynov, Executive Secretary of Azerbaijan’s National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development, Head of Sustainable Development and Social Policy Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy, joined the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development of the United Nations (UN) themed “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind”, in New York, the U.S.
During the event, Huseyn Huseynov provided an overview of Azerbaijan’s progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
He also addressed the panel discussions on SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-Being”, SDG 5 “Gender Equality”, SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, and engaging stakeholders in the implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
He shared insights on the reforms carried out in Azerbaijan in the relevant areas, and achieved progress. Huseynov also briefed the participants about Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at sustainable economic development, macroeconomic stability, increasing the welfare of the population, strengthening the non-oil and gas sector, developing the digital economy and other areas, amid global challenges.
