There is no medicine shortage in Azerbaijan
Today, in Azerbaijan there is no shortage of medicines and active ingredients Parviz Azizbekov, the chief of the inspectorate for control over the quality of medicines at the Health Ministry
He said in drugstores medicines on one active substance are available from different countries and manufactures, noting that “lack of any brand does not mean that there is a shortage of medicines in the country.”

The inspectorate chief went on to add that there are a lot of different branded medicines with the same active ingredients. “So it is possible to buy medicines made by different manufactures with the same active ingredients.”

Azizbekov noted that doctors are recommended to write in the prescription both the name of medicines and their active ingredients in order to avoid any problems.

On 15 September 2015, the Tariff Council defined the new prices of 1057 medicines for 25 active substances (with the exception of combined drugs).
