As part of President Ilham Aliyev’s working visit to the United States, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting with Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

The meeting emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Washington, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, has created a favorable foundation for advancing the bilateral agenda and developing the partnership at a strategic level. The sides noted the importance of projects implemented between the two countries within the framework of mutual interests for regional development and considered opportunities to realize the existing potential for expanding economic cooperation through joint initiatives.

The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic geographical location, the positive outcomes of reforms aimed at diversifying the economy, the growth of the non-oil and gas sector, and the creation of a favorable business and investment climate. The meeting also underscored that, amid global challenges, digital transformation and the development of knowledge-based sectors are key priorities in Azerbaijan’s development strategy.

The parties emphasized the fundamental role of technological progress, scientific advancement, and artificial intelligence in driving economic transformation. They also highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to position itself as a strategic regional hub for knowledge and innovation, and discussed opportunities to unlock the full potential of bilateral cooperation in this field.
