Initiated by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the meeting featured discussions on prospects for traditional religious and spiritual cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Caucasus Muslims Office.
During the meeting with the Aida Balayeva, Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the sides hailed the high level religious and cultural ties between the two brotherly countries, as they discussed the prospects of active participation of both nations in the process of interfaith dialogue.
The parties also highlighted the importance of ongoing collaboration in international forums and initiatives on interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue and cooperation, such as the Astana Congresses and those hosted in Baku.
CMB Chairman Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade expressed his deep gratitude to Kazakhstan, its leadership, and responsible officials for the excellent organization of the Astana Congress and their hospitality, describing it as yet another achievement of brotherly Kazakhstan.
During the meeting with Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, the two touched upon the upcoming plans of this esteemed organization, of which the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office is a member.
They praised Azerbaijan’s exemplary model of interfaith harmony, highlighting its significance as a global reference for intra-Islamic dialogue. The parties also actively discussed efforts to promote and expand this model.
As part of the meeting with Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue of the Vatican, the both religious leaders commended the high level relations between Azerbaijan and the Holy See, as well as the cooperation between the Caucasus Muslims Office and the Vatican.
Both sides emphasized importance of maintaining and further strengthening these ties within the framework of international interfaith cooperation, speaking about the future plans.
