Nakhchivan’s Tourism Potential Showcased - VIDEO

State Tourism Agency, with the support of the Authorized Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, organized a media tour to Nakhchivan on 17 October.

The main goal of the tour was to showcase Nakhchivan’s diverse eco, cultural and health tourism opportunities, to introduce tourism-relevant sites to a wider audience, and to promote tourist visits to the region.

Media representatives started their tour with a visit to the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and proceeded to explore the Agbulag Village Tourism and Recreation area and the Batabat Highlands at Shahbuz State Nature Reserve.


They were introduced to hiking trails in the area and the operation and tourism potential of Duzdag Physiotherapy Centre near the city of Nakhchivan.

The State Tourism Agency has prepared the ‘Action Plan for the Development of Tourism in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2025–2027’ to ensure the implementation of the action plan of the ‘State Program on the Socio-Economic Development of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2023–2027’, approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 17, 2024.

In line with this action plan, efforts continue in the Nakhchivan economic region to develop tourism, improve tourism infrastructure, promote various types of tourism (winter, rural, eco, etc.), organize visits of foreign tour operators and international and local media representatives to Nakhchivan, establish tourism and recreation zones, raise awareness of the region’s tourism potential among international audiences, and implement other related measures.

Media guests were also given the opportunity to visit the Khan Palace State Historical and Architectural, Momine Khatun and Open-Air Museum Complex, the Nakhchivangala Historical and Architectural Museum Complex, the tomb of Prophet Noah, and the Heydar Mosque, considered one of the largest mosques in the Caucasus.

The tour concluded with a Q&A session with the journalists.
