“Unfortunately, the international community has already faced a more dangerous example of armed separatism like Islamic state. This terrorist organization, operating in several countries and trying to expand its sphere of influence, poses a serious threat to international stability”.

Minister of National Security Eldar Mahmudov made the remarks at the 18th meeting of the Conference of Special Services of Turkic Speaking Countries, the PR Department of the Ministry of National Security said in a statement to APA, AzVision.az reports.

He noted that Azerbaijan’s Ministry of National Security has constantly stated at international events that modern terrorist organizations have strategic goals like seizing the territories of other countries where they can create a safe heaven to expand their criminal acts. The minister added that the heavy consequences of this threat have already practically taken place in light of Armenia’s state-level terrorism and aggressive separatist policy against Azerbaijan.

“However, some international organizations have double standards regarding the dangerousness of this issue and this is one of the reasons a just solution to this problem has not been possible to date. In these terms, the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh any time soon may create fertile ground for further strengthening of multilateral cooperation between special service agencies,” said Eldar Mahmudov.

The minister said he believes such methods of cooperation will at the same time help timely thwart potential threats by illegal armed organizations such as Islamic State.
