OIC commends UNGA for adopting comprehensive suite of resolutions that underscore inalienable rights of Palestinians

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has commended the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for adopting a comprehensive suite of resolutions that underscore the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

In a statement issued in Jeddah on Thursday, the OIC noted that this broad international consensus highlights the critical importance of the Palestinian cause, while firmly rejecting the policies associated with Israeli colonial occupation, including annexation, settlement expansion, forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and various other violations of international law committed by Israel.

Furthermore, the OIC emphasized the importance of the overwhelming support for the resolution to renew the mandate of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). This reaffirmation addresses the situation of Palestinian refugees and their unequivocal rights to return and receive compensation. The OIC reiterated the need to maintain UNRWA’s mandate and to provide it with full support—financial, political, and legal—as a reflection of the international community's commitment to upholding the rights of Palestinian refugees.

Additionally, the Organization renewed its call on the international community to continue promoting and supporting draft resolutions that affirm and safeguard the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. This includes advocating for their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state within the borders prior to June 4, 1967, with East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
