More medicines under the mandatory health insurance package

‘The initial stage will include providing the necessary medications for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases within the framework of mandatory health insurance’, said Aynura Ahmadova, head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department of the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, during a training session for media in the city of Ganja. She noted that the Cabinet of Ministers has also approved the relevant regulations in this regard:

‘Citizens will be able to obtain medications provided under mandatory health insurance at minimal cost or completely free of charge. We are hard at work to implement this framework.’

Ahmadova further explained that these medications will be available through pharmacies that have signed contracts with the Agency:

‘Four criteria have been established for compiling the list of medicines: a medication must be officially registered in the state registry, be safe to use and of high quality, have a price regulated by the state, and be compatible with the financial capacity of the insurance fund.’
