Azerbaijani Prosecutor General attends global anti-corruption conference in New York

On December 2, Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, attended the 2nd Global Conference on Harnessing Data to Improve Corruption Measurement, at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, the U.S.

Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), the conference gathered representatives from up to 30 countries, international and regional organizations, and experts, aiming to develop and discuss alternative criteria and new methodologies for assessing the effectiveness of anti-corruption activities.

Addressing the conference, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev highlighted the key prerequisite to ensure the effectiveness of combatting the corruption - one of the main scourges of the modern era – namely measuring the scale of it.

The Prosecutor General also held bilateral meetings with several officials on the margins of the conference, including Faisal Shahkar, Officer-in-Charge of the United Nations Rule of Law and Security Institutions; Drago Kos, IACA Dean; as well as representatives from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and other countries.

Tofig Musayev, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), also attended the meetings.
