CO-chair of the Commission, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy ad Industry Shahin Mustafayev said that the meeting is being held within the visit of Hungarian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relatoins, head of Economy and Trade Agency, Co-chairman of Azerbaijan-Hungary commission Peter Szijjarto to Baku.
The Minister said that the trade turnover between two countries rose 40%: “Several documents covering a number of spheres (water economy, air transport, agriculture, tourism and communication) have been signed between two countries”.
Mustafayev underlined that opening of Hungary Trade House in Azerbaijan serves to extension of relations between two countries: “Cooperation in agriculture sphere developed recent years. 2,700 heads of cattle have been brought from Hungary. More 5,700 heads of cattle will be brought to Azerbaijan soon”.
Minister noted that these countries also have educational cooperation. According to him, 28 Azerbaijanis study in Hungary, 2 Hungarians in our country.
The Minister noted that Azerbaijan intends to develop tourism cooperation with this country.
In turn, Peter Szijjarto said that Hungary’s new strategy is directed to the East and therefore it intends to extend links with Azerbaijan: “We’ll extend cooperation in zoo veterinary sphere. I think that a related protocol will be signed during next visit of Azerbaijani President to Hungary”.
Along with this, Hungary can cooperate with Azerbaijan in poultry sphere too. He said that these countries have close cooperation in cattle import: “Azerbaijan has signed a contract to purchase 10,000 head of cattle from Hungary. However, we have practice in poultry sphere and we can share this practice with our Azerbaijani counterparts”.
Hungarian Minister is sure that related contract will be signed during the next visit of Azerbaijani to Hungary.
He also noted that Hungary is one of the leading country in pharmacological sphere: “Moreover, if there is not direct air transport between these countries, this means that these countries have not links. Number of visas granted by Hungary to Azerbaijanis increased by 6%. Yesterday, I met with the Deputy Minister of Transport Musa Panahov. We decided that visa regime between Azerbaijan and Hungary should be facilitated”.
Speaking about the first European Olympic Games, the Hungarian Minister noted that Hungarian companies intend to closely participate in the construction works in Azerbaijan, conducted for Olympic games.
Hungarian side will grant scholarships to 200 Azerbaijani students: “We are interested in cooperation in education, tourism sphere and therefore visa regime should be facilitated. Moreover, Center of Hungarian Culture will be opened in Baku. We support opening of Center of Azerbaijani Culture in Budapest. We believe that Azerbaijani side will allocate funds for this purpose”.
At the end of the event, a protocol about results of the 4th meeting of Azerbaijan-Hungary Intergovernmental Commission was signed by Shahin Mustafayev and Peter Szijjarto. The document envisages continuation and development of cooperation between two countries in trade, economy, investment, industry, energy, education, agriculture, tourism, water economy, culture, ecology, youths and sport and etc spheres.
