Azerbaijan launches first batch of oil products to Armenia from Boyuk Kesik station

First batch of oil products exported from Azerbaijan to Armenia dispatched from Boyuk Kesik station

Following President Ilham Aliyev’s decision in October to lift the existing restrictions on the transit of goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia that had been imposed since the occupation, cargo shipments to the neighboring country have continued.

On December 19, for the first time, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) carried out the delivery of locally produced petroleum products to Armenia.

A total of 1,220 tons of AI-95 motor gasoline, loaded into 22 railway wagons, were dispatched by a freight train operated by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC from the Boyuk Kesik station. The cargo will be delivered to Armenia via Georgia.

An agreement on this matter was reached during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, held in Gabala on November 28.
