“Parliamentary diplomacy, in harmony with international diplomacy, plays a critical role in promoting peace and stability, resolving conflicts, fostering cooperation based on shared interests both regionally in Asia and globally, and ensuring security,” said Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), Ambassador Ramil Hasan, at the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
The Secretary General provided a comprehensive overview of TURKPA’s activities and ongoing projects, highlighting the steps taken to enhance mutual cooperation with the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. He emphasized that TURKPA has held observer status in the APA since 2017.
He noted that the joint efforts of parliamentarians yield significant benefits for the international community.
Ramil Hasan underscored the importance of TURKPA’s work, stressing that parliamentarians from its member states — Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Türkiye — cooperate on the principles of mutual understanding and respect. He also highlighted the commitment of the Turkic States to a policy of tolerance toward all religions and nations, emphasizing the relevance of TURKPA’s initiatives in this regard.
In conclusion, the Secretary General briefed participants on TURKPA’s forthcoming projects and reaffirmed his determination to advance cooperation between TURKPA and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly to a new stage of development.
