Deputy Minister: Azerbaijan cannot substitute Russian gas for Turkey
Azerbaijan is not able to substitute the Russian gas supplies to Turkey in case the country rejects the resource, deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Natiq Abbasov told.

According to him, the reason is that Azerbaijan lacks additional gas, since Baku has already sold all export volumes of the resource for the next 25 years.

"The reserves which we will produce have already been sold until 2040. If we had extra volume of gas, we would take it to meet our demands," Abbasov said.

On October 7 the government of Turkey claimed it would review the issue of Russian gas supplies due to worsening of ties between the two countries after Russian aircrafts violated the Turkish airspace.

Russia provided explanations to Turkey saying that the incident took place because of adverse weather conditions.
