Mobile Number Portability service launched in Azerbaijan
Every subscriber one of the three mobile operators in Azerbaijan can port their numbers via the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service from today.
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network operator to another. Portability of numbers implies full transition of subscriber from one operator to another while retaining the number together with a prefix (050, 051, 055, 070 and 077) of the operator.

Earlier in August 2013, all three mobile operators in Azerbaijan announced full technical readiness to implement MNP, but the process was delayed due to the need to start checks by institutions and organizations involved in the project.

In turn, the mobile operator Nar Mobile announced favorable tariffs for new customers using the services of MNP. Thus, under the terms of the tariff, a subscriber who ports his number will receive 30 minutes of free time for calls within the country every month for a year.

Azercell also announced the launch of this service and reported that it calls on everyone to use its network. The company will announce additional bonuses later. The transition process will last six days after the registration. More on connection to the operators can be found on official websites of Azercell, Bakcell and Nar Mobile.
