There are about 1,000 registered candidates, Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov said on Oct.14.
Panahov said the CEC is trying not to include the names of candidates withdrawing their candidatures in the ballot papers as it may confuse voters. “In order to prevent such cases, the CEC gave appropriate instructions to the polling precinct and constituency election commissions,” he added.

As for October 13, some of 1,246 registered candidates vying for seats in the Azerbaijani Parliament have withdrawn from the elections scheduled for November 1.
