Turkish diplomat calls on to recognize occupation of Karabakh by Armenia
“Russia and Turkey should step up mediation in the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”, the head of the Permanent Mission of the OSCE in Georgia, Khalil Akinci said at the international conference "Russia and Turkey: strengthening multifaceted partnership".
According to him, the region has always been in the interest of Russia: "Many of today`s problems in the region have arisen as a result of the national policy of the Communist Party of the USSR. After the collapse of the Soviet Union began to emerge nationalist tendencies, everyone began to adhere to a specific territory. There was confusion among the nations because of territorial division. Everyone began to interpret the story from the point of view of its priorities. Diaspora started to show increased interest in their home country, especially those who lived on the territory of Turkey. As a result, some of them have led to fuel conflicts in the Caucasus and creation of terrorist organizations."
“It’s should be confess many important issues. Nagorno-Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. Currently is under Armenian occupation. This issue is still not resolved. Further developments may seriously affect the whole region. Armenia wouldn’t be in such economic situation, if had not occupied Nagorno Karabakh. How much Armenia won because of this conflict? The international organizations are trying to do something, but their functions are limited. Russia and Turkey should step up its participation in the resolution of this conflict", - said prominent Turkish diplomat.
