Azerbaijan`s cultural heritage presented at UNESCO
The 20th Assembly of the countries joined the World Convention on Cultural and Natural Heritage will be held at the UNESCO Headquarters on November 18-20 as part of the UNESCO General Assembly.

Azerbaijan has been nominated for election to the World Heritage Committee. As part of this campaign Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Culture and Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO jointly organized an event on promotion of Azerbaijan`s cultural heritage. Addressing the event, permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Anar Karimov spoke about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO and the role of the first lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva in strengthening of the relations. Mr. Karimov highlighted that Azerbaijan ratified five conventions of UNESCO on cultural sphere and they had been fulfilled at the international level based on the existing mechanisms.

Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister of Azerbaijan Sevda Mammadova, thanked the director general of UNESCO Irina Bokova, and all employees of UNESCO for the opportunity created for Azerbaijan to demonstrate the cultural and natural heritage of the country.

She stressed the importance of the protection of cultural and natural heritage adding that Azerbaijan supported several conservation and restoration projects in France, Italy and several other countries.

Deputy Minister also said that if elected to the World Heritage Committee, Azerbaijan will promote the further development of the Committee assisting in technical sphere.

If elected, Azerbaijan will be represented at the Committee by an expert on cultural heritage of our country, Rizvan Bayramov.
