Azerbaijan begins trial of Belgian citizens charged with selling fake dollars
The Baku Court on Grave Crimes on Monday began the trial of Belgian citizens Maput Martial and Hongla Samuel on charges of selling fake money.
The public prosecutor at the hearing announced the bill of indictment. The convicts denied their guilt.

The hearing will be resumed on October 28.

Note that, the two foreigners were detained on April 3.

The Azerbaijani Interior Ministry’s Main Organized Crime Department has detained Cameroon-born Belgian citizens Maput Martial and Hongla Samuel while attempting to sell 10,000 fake USD in exchange for 5,000 USD. 10,000 fake USD, one color printer and a variety of chemical substances were found and seized from their house in Khirdalan, which they had rented.

Investigative actions made it clear that they were planning to produce fake US dollars and put them into circulations for the purpose of making a great deal of money, thinking of an expected flow of tourists into Azerbaijan on the eve of the Baku-2015 first European Games and the fact that foreign currency would then be widely used.
