Ukraine opposition insists on immediate ceasefire at talks with president
At talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich representatives of the country`s opposition insisted on “an immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of troops to save lives of people,” leader of parliamentary opposition faction Batkivshchina Arseny Yatsenyuk said here on Wednesday,AzVision.az reports quoting Itar-Tass.

Meanwhile, the president proposed to oppositionists “actually to surrender and leave the Maidan (central Kiev`s Independence Square),” the press service of the opposition party quoted him as saying.

Yatsenyuk noted that as a ceasefire is not declared and “state authorities do not have a desire for this,” Ukraine turned out to be “on the threshold of the most dramatic page” in the country’s history.

“We will be standing up with people. There are civilians on the Maidan and these people have the right to stand here and continue their peaceful protest,” he added.
