The U.S. Embassy congratulated Azerbaijan on selecting North American Space Systems/Loral for its second telecom satellite (Azerspace-2).
“Congratulations to Azerbaijan on selecting North American Space Systems/Loral for its second telecom satellite. Azerspace-2, the second telecommunications satellite of Azerbaijan, will be built on the basis of the experience and capabilities of Azerspace-1. We are proud that U.S. companies are contributing to the development of hi-tech in Azerbaijan,” the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan tweeted on Oct.21.
Subsidiary of Canada’s MDA corporation, Space Systems/Loral (SSL), which is a leading provider of commercial satellites, is selected to build the second telecommunications satellite of Azerbaijan (Azerspace-2), said the message from Azercosmos JSC.
SSL is based in Palo Alto, California. The satellite will be located at the 45 degrees east orbital location leased by the Azerbaijani side from the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization Intelsat which is the leaseholder of 45.9 percent of the satellite’s resources. The service area of Azerspace-2 will cover Europe, South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa.
