Under the order of Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev on improvement of housing, social and living conditions of the military officers, a new residential building constructed in a base of the Air Force was inaugurated on October 21.

Defense Minister Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov met with the military officers and their family members at the presentation ceremony of the serviced apartments’ keys and congratulated the participants on behalf of the ministry leadership.

“We are planning to commission more than 500 new serviced apartments only in the Baku garrison by the end of the year. The construction of three residential buildings is underway in other airbases of the Air Force. By late 2015, we are planning to inaugurate about ten military units. All the work done is an obvious example of President Ilham Aliyev`s care for the Air Force,” said the minister.

Hasanov went on to add that the Supreme Commander set a task before us to upgrade the entire infrastructure of the Armed Forces.

“During this period, we did a lot and solved most of the problems. Headquarters, barracks, canteens were built and a new building was commissioned today. The convenience of military personnel’s families has positive impact on their service,” he said.

Hasanov said despite the financial crisis in the world, Azerbaijan has increased military spending for 2016.

“The Supreme Commander, Azerbaijani state and people attach importance to strengthening the armed forces. These conditions were created for high-level organization of your military service. Attention paid to the army is due to the country`s stability, economic development and Supreme Commander’s care,” he noted.

The Armenian side in panic after powerful blow inflicted by Azerbaijani armed forces in a short time, the minister said. “Air Force will play an important role in striking at the enemy for the liberation of our occupied territories and justify the confidence of the Azerbaijani people and president.”
