“Once the funds are allocated, construction will begin,” he said.
Akhundov added that the human bones discovered at the second stage will be protected with a cover and a helicopter platform will be constructed.
Note that, Guba genocide mass burial site was discovered on April 1, 2007. The employees of Archeology and Ethnography Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences found out the bones of more than 400 people. More than 50 of the remains belonged to children, 100 to women, the rest to the old men. Along with Azerbaijanis, Lezgins, Jews, Tats and representatives of other ethnic groups killed by Armenians were buried there.
Under the presidential order dated December 2009, the construction of the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex started. President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Memorial Complex on December 18, 2013.
