Charity event held at the initiative of Leyla Aliyeva - PHOTOS
At the initiative of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, the Russian office of the Fund participated in the charity event "Sunny Day".

"Sunny Day" is a holiday for children, who were treated at the Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology named after Blokhin and those who managed to overcome the most difficult cancers. The event was attended by about 200 children and 70 doctors.

Director of the Research Institute of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, academician Mamedbagir Aliyev, opening celebratory event, said that more than 2,000 children a year are undergoing checkup in a cancer center, including Azerbaijan. According to Aliyev, 80% of children with malignancy recover.

He thanked the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Russian management of international programs for the support of children`s cancer center. "Such events help psychologically rehabilitate those patients receiving treatment, and more importantly, to support those who are on treatment," M.Aliyev said.

Director of the Directorate of International Programs Tatiana Shumova stressed that the main idea of ​​the "Sunny day" holiday is to give people faith in the healing and hope that oncology is not fatal sentence and that it is curable disease. "Children who suffered oncology, grow, learn and develop normally to the joy of their parents," she said. T.Shumova also thanked the Russian representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by Leyla Aliyeva for taking part in a charity event.

This year, "Sunny Day" was held in Moscow puppet theater. Children are entertained by funny clowns, students of the State School of Circus and Variety Arts named after M.N.Rumyantsev ("Karandash").

The main gift was the premiere performance of Andersen`s fairy tale "The Tinder Box".

After the performance the organizers presented oriental sweets and gifts to all participants.
