Czech Republic seek to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan: Ambassador
The Czech Republic is trying to strengthen ties with Azerbaijan in a number of areas.
The statement was made by Czech Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vítězslav Pivoňka on Thursday at the receipt dedicated to the country’s Independence Day, APA reported.

The diplomat mentioned the protocol on strategic cooperation which was signed during Czech President Miloš Zeman’s visit to Azerbaijan in September as a striking example of these efforts.

“Relations between the countries are not only based on close cooperation but also friendship and [these relations] serve shared interests,” he stressed.

Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov, who was also present at the event, delivered President Ilham Aliyev’s congratulations on the country’s national holiday.

He noted that Azerbaijan is interested to develop relations with the Czech Republic.

“Our ties are getting stronger in the economic, scientific, technical, and cultural areas. Economic relations have been rapidly developing since the establishment of the joint commission in 2011 and the trade turnover has now reached 1.5 billion dollars. Long-term friendly ties between our peoples are growing further on the basis of political relations,” said Vítězslav Pivoňka.
