Azerbaijan, Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS UNDP discuss ICT projects
Azerbaijani Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov met with the delegation led by Deputy Director of Regional Bureau for Europe and CIS UN Development Program, Olivier Adam to discuss information and communication technology (ICT) projects within the framework of future cooperation.
Azerbaijani minister Ali Abbasov congratulated the delegation with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of UN, as well as a group of UN representatives awarded the Medal of Progress ("Tereqqi") by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the productive activities in the implementation of projects in various fields.

Highly appreciating the cooperation with the UN relevant agencies, Abbasov highlighted the implementation of a number of ICT projects in Azerbaijan within the cooperation between the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies and UN Development Program. He stressed that the UN Development Program is the main partner in preparation of “National Strategy for the Development of Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2014-2020", the development of e-governance in the country, the creation of a platform for electronic services, the organization of the Internet Governance Forum and other areas.

On behalf of the delegation expressing gratitude to the Minister for the warm reception, Olivier Adam conveyed the greetings of Ms. Helen Clark, head of the UN Development Program, said that Azerbaijan`s achievements and experiences in the field of ICT could be considered as models for other UN member states. He also appreciated the support of Azerbaijan to the development of e-governance in Afghanistan.

The meeting discussed current projects, as well as ICT projects to cover the period of 2016-2020s, to continue the cooperation on the "AzDataCom" project and other issues.
