The UN coordination said that the initial mandate of the UN Baku Office was the elimination of the humanitarian crisis regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the solution of refugee problems. However, as the situation changed in Azerbaijan, the UN also changed its mandate.
The UN Baku office mainly focuses on economic projects and living standards, he said.
Broek went on to add that Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council was a significant event in the country’s foreign policy, which expanded Azerbaijan’s possibilities and contributed to international security and peace.
