Court announces verdict on Azerbaijanis accused of fighting in Syria

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes on Tuesday completed the trial on the case of Azerbaijani citizens

The court sentenced each of the accused to 14 years in jail.

The investigation revealed that in 2014-2015, Mubariz Tahirov and Telman Bakirov, who were detained in a special operation of the National Security Ministry in April 2015, participated in illegal armed groups on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Iraq, as well as in the activities of the terrorist organizations Islamic State (ISIS).
