UN votes to condemn United States embargo on Cuba - VIDEO
The United Nations General Assembly has voted to condemn the United States embargo on Cuba.
It was the first vote on the resolution since the two countries restored diplomatic ties.

Israel joined the US in voting no.

Cuba estimates the embargo has caused the equivalent of 109 billion euros in damages to its economy.

US President Barack Obama told the UN General Assembly last month that he was “confident” the US Congress “will inevitably lift an embargo that should not be in place any more.”

The resolution welcomes the renewed ties and recognises “the expressed will” of Obama to end the embargo.

Such resolutions are nonbinding, but they can carry political weight.
