Ramiz Mehdiyev: West overwhelmed with anti-Azerbaijani campaign
`West is overwhelmed with anti-Azerbaijani campaign in anticipation of 2015 parliamentary elections`, Ramiz Mehdiyev, chief of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan, full member of the National Academy of Science of Azerbaijan wrote this in his article `About sources of degradation of European structures or policy of double standards in relations with Azerbaijan`, published in `Azerbaijan` newspaper.

This campaign is conducted by both OSCE and the Council of Europe, Mehdiyev writes:

"Activity of the working group on human rights was restored at the request of the Council of Europe Secretary General Thornborn Jagland in 2014.

But in October 2015 Jagland withdrew from the working group with Azerbaijan, which was yet another hostile action of the `advocats of western democracy`. I have to remind that this group was created in 2005 but in 2008 it suspended its activity, though 150 prisoners were released in the indicated period. Those people were far from the political activity and were imprisoned for various law offenses. Their early release was the result of the goodwill act of the Azerbaijani authorities.

16 political prisoners were released in less than a year after restoration of the work group. This fact proves the fruitful activity of the working group. Unfortunately, Europeans were unable to evaluate the good intentions of the Azerbaijani authorities and their strife for a full-pledged dialogue and search of mutually profitable solutions.

The indicated examples show the policy of double standards in relation to our country. But the issues concerning us, which can find their solution in the instances of these organizations, are ignored. However, Europeans still try to give a political shade to the problems, though the raised issues are exceptionally civil."
