Azerbaijan postpones Russian gas purchase
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has not yet started the import of Russian gas, Rovnag Abdullayev told AzVision.az.

In mid September 2015 Azerbaijan`s AzMeCo signed a middle-term agreement with Gazprom export about supplies of 2bn cubic meters of Russian gas a year.

"Natural gas supplies of Gazprom group will ensure the guaranteed loading of 100% capacities of the Garadagh methanol plant," sources in the Russian company said.

Supplies started in late September and stopped in a week. Azerbaijani side explained this step with unprofitability.

In addition, SOCAR and Gazprom plan the temporary swap operations on supplies of Russian gas to the underground gas reservoirs of Azerbaijan for gas supplies to the south of Russia.

"Gas is not imported yet. Negotiations are currently underway and technical details of the agreement on swap supplies are being developed," Abdullayev said.
