Azerbaijani president: CIS mission
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergei Lebedev, who led the CIS observation mission to Azerbaijan’s parliamentary election.

Sergei Lebedev said the mission he leads this year has been doing their work successfully in various CIS countries.

The head of state noted the importance of this organization’s unbiased approach which corresponds to the country’s law and the fact that it has no politicized position.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that despite Azerbaijan’s invitation, the OSCE ODIHR has insisted on sending an ungrounded number of observers to the country. The head of state said that when they were offered to adjust the number of observers to that of the population, they refused to observe the election.

The president said such an approach is unacceptable, adding that nevertheless a large number of observers representing PACE, the CIS and other organizations and countries came to observe the election.
