US ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Secuta welcomes Azerbaijan’s continued commitment for NATO Resolute Support operation in Afghanistan, the US embassy in Baku tweeted Nov. 3.
The United States highly values Azerbaijan‘s continued important role in peacekeeping operations alongside NATO forces, the statement said.
A group of 25 Azerbaijani peacekeepers operating as part of NATO`s ‘Resolute Support’ non-combat mission went to Afghanistan in October.
The Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan began November 20, 2002.
The mission involves 94 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, two military doctors, and two engineers.
