“Azerbaijan takes all necessary steps for holding the Islamic Games,” said Rahimov, adding that Organizing Committee has been created for this purpose.
The minister noted that Azerbaijan has great experience in hosting such international sports events.
Rahimov said that over 5,000 athletes will participate in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games.
Chingiz Huseynzade, vice president of the National Olympic Committee said that the Games will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan on May 12-22, 2017.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the Games will be held at Baku Olympic Stadium.
It is planned to hold competitions on 20 sports, according to the preliminary agreement.
