Azerbaijani president starts official visit to Georgia - PHOTOS
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday arrived in Georgia for an official visit.

At the Tbilisi International Airport named after Shota Rustaveli, President Ilham Aliyev was welcomed by the secretary of the Georgian National Security Council Irina Imerlishvili and the head of the Georgian Presidential Administration David Pataraya.

Later on, the president laid flowers at the monument to Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev in Tbilisi.

President Aliyev then visited the memorial of the Georgian fallen soldiers on Heroes’ Square in Tbilisi.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani president will meet with his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Margvelashvili.

The two presidents will sign a joint declaration on deepening cooperation in the areas of politics, security, trade-economic, transit, culture, education and science. In addition, both presidents are scheduled to hold a joint press conference.

The Azerbaijani president will also meet Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili and Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

President Ilham Aliyev is planning to visit Marneuli, town in Kvemo Kartli region populated predominantly by ethnic Azerbaijanis.

The visit will end on Nov.6.
