Earlier, State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan has detained Russian citizen, resident of Saint Petersburg Ahmadkhan Idrisovich Ziyadkhanov (1989), On Oct.26, as he sought to join the ISIS militant group.
He wanted to fly to Syria via Baku-Istanbul airline.
Investigations made it clear that Ziyadkhanov has been formerly imprisoned in the Russian Federation for two years and six months on charges of robbery and theft,
After being released from prison he has come into contact with members of the radical religious organization. It became clear that he has then sought to join ISIS ranks passing through Azerbaijani and Turkish territories.
