US States Fail Providing Transparent Anti-Corruption Laws

The majority of US state laws failed to provide transparency and accountability to avoid corruption, a recent study said.

Only three US states, such as Alaska, California and Connecticut, received satisfactory grades for open record laws without any loopholes, the State Integrity Investigation study published Monday revealed.

According to the study conducted by the Center for Public Integrity (CPI), some states passed bills that presented questionable ethics and conflicts of interest, such as Arkansas lawmakers accepting lobbyists` gifts in the form of food and drinks.

Michigan, Nevada and Wyoming ranked the last and showed the least transparent state laws, according to the watchdog.
