An auction including 3 works of art from Russia will be held at `Sotheby`s auction house in London on 1 December. Azerbaijan’s folk artist Tahir Salahov’s painting-`Aydan` is also among the presented lots. Tahir Salahov, the folk artist both Azerbaijan and the USSR is a vice-president of Russian Academy of Arts. His work of art is estimated 250-350 thousand pound (approximately half million dollar) AzVision.az reports citing the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Sorthebys` Auction House states, `Aydan` is considered one of the best works of art of the Soviet period.
The Ministry notes, another version of this painting is kept at Russian State Tretyakovskaya Gallery. The artist drew the very version submitted to the auction for the exhibition in Tokio.
The auction house official states, “ ‘Aydan’ describes childhood in Soviet-era. In 2011, this work of art was put on the postage stamps in Russia”.
