Azerbaijan to amend legislation on security and communications
Regarding with the latest developments in the fields of security and communications in Azerbaijan, it became necessary to make amendments to the relevant legislation.

President Ilham Aliyev earlier signed an order on the protection of state secret and consequential issues, as well astmedia coverage of these issues. In this regard, a number of amendments have already been developed, Siyavush Novruzov, the deputy executive secretary of ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), member of the parliament’s Committee on security and defense told.

The new parliament is likely to discuss the amendments envisaging the protection of state and military secrets, strengthening of communications system, Novruzov said.

“It is also planned to tighten penalties for a violation of the relevant articles of the Criminal Code,” he noted.

Novruzov went on to add that the amendments to the legislation will focus on the communications system which is one of the key areas of security.
