Former department head at Azerbaijani MNS arrested
The former head of the main energy and transport security department at the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry (MNS), Major General Akif Chovdarov has been arrested.
He was sentenced to three months in jail under the court decision. Chovdarov faces charges under articles #308.2, 309.1, 302.2 and 311 of the Criminal Code.

In addition to numerous complaints of entrepreneurs, the former imprisoned employees of the department testified against Chovdarov.

Earlier, the head of the main energy and transport security department of MNS Akif Aliyev, the deputy head of the department Orkhan Osmanov, as well as employees of the ministry"s main department for combating transnational organized crime Natig Aliyev and Zaur Mammadov were arrested.

Chovdarov was taken to the Baku detention facility.
