Iranian Ambassador: Mistake was made in program causing protests
Humor and words used in the program aired on the Iranian TV channel were not pleasant.
Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen made the remarks while commenting on protests against insulting Azerbaijanis on the Iranian TV.

He said that it was not done deliberately, a mistake was made in “Fitile” program. “This program has been broadcasting for children and teens for 10 years.

The program hasn’t intended to disrespect ethnic groups, including the Azerbaijanis living in Iran. Even, the person preparing and broadcasting the program is Azerbaijani-speaker.

Following the program, he apologized to Azerbaijanis in the Azerbaijani language on the Iranian TV. Chairman of Iranian National Radio and Television Company apologized for the incident. Other responsible persons of the TV also apologized and said that it was not done deliberately, but accidentally.

This event can also occur in other countries. It is regrettable that these groups adjacent to third circles took advantage of the incident tried to undermine the relations between the two countries and voiced separatist slogans. Even today, a small group of 30 persons attempted to stage a protest outside the embassy voicing separatist slogans.

The number of Iranian Azerbaijanis exceeds 30 mln. They expressed their concerns for the program. They will never allow any groups to take advantage of this issue and put forward ambitions, and any separatist claims to be voiced against Iran. I express gratitude to Azerbaijan’s sensible, intelligent and wise people for not succumbing to the protests and claims of the small groups,” he said.
