Sunday`s tribute was attended by all world leaders at the G20 conference in Turkey. According to reporters traveling with the president, Obama was absent as his counterparts from G20 countries began observing the moment of silence that echoed around the world.
Having arrived at the meeting, Obama walked in and took his place at the conference table next to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. By that time the solemn observance had already begun.
Clearly, a tragedy of such scale still isn`t enough to cure someone`s lack of punctuality.
When the moment of silence was over, the American president didn`t hesitate to say that "there is a strong link between economy and security," implying that the attacks proved his point.
In reference to the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis, Obama also said that "society has not passed this exam with good grades."
