Plane lands in US following bomb threat
Rescue crews were waiting as a flight landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport of the US after a passenger made a bomb threat Nov.19, Miami Herald reported.
Spirit Airlines Flight 596 from Fort Lauderdale to Minneapolis was only in the air for 15 minutes before it had to return to the gate due to a security issue, the airline said in a statement.

The airplane landed in “a secure area” around 11:05 p.m. where Fire Rescue was standing by, according to tweets from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.

Jachles said that there was “no imminent apparent threat,” but that BSO’s bomb squad was on its way to check out the airplane.

“Apparently it was a comment made by a passenger, but we have to take these things seriously,” Jachles said.

Jachles said crews would check out the aircraft and make sure it’s all clear before passengers could be on their way.

Bomb-sniffing dogs would make a sweep of the plane and luggage as well, Jachles tweeted.

The aircraft is an Airbus A320 with 92 people on board.
