`I do believe, my dad will come back to us` - Dilgam Asgarov
Azerbaijani hostage Dilgam Asgarov’s son Kurdoglu gave an interview to Azvision.az

- You have recently been to Moscow. What was the purpose of your visit? You said to leave Azerbaijan…

It is right, I have been to Russia. However, I do not plan to leave Azerbaijan for good. I have stayed in Russia for a week. The aim of my visit was to attend my uncle’s trial.

- According to media, Dilgam Asgarov has visited his relatives’ graves for several times in Kalbajar. Were you aware of your dad’s plan to visit Kalbajar?

- My dad was yearning to visit to Kalbajar. We were unaware about his plan. Only after his return, we knew that he had been there. He usually watched the video he shot in his native land… I remember our last dinner when he mentioned his desire as if he wants to meet with my grandfather. He did it wittingly. He said nothing about his plan on going to Kalbajar. My mom felt a sense of dread, like something wrong was going to happen.

My dad made his first visit to Kalbajar with Hidayet. He lost his son as a result of Armenian agression. He lived in Yevlakh last year. If I am not wrong, he passed away. My dad made his second visit with his relative- Rafi. He died in a car accident.

- How did you learn that Dilgam and his comrades were taken hostage?

- We saw Shahbaz’s photo in the media.

-What was your dad until he was taken hostage?

- My dad worked in Perm, Russia. His job was to cut trees and sell wood. He came home two times in a year.

-Where did Dilgam Asgarov get acquainted with Shahbaz Guliyev?

- They got acquainted in Perm. Then they had relation with each other. I remember, my dad said in his first visit to Kalbajar that he attained his desire and he did not care if Armenians kill him.

- You have applied to Red Cross Committe to meet with your dad. What’s their response?

- They say, our meeting is impossible. Although we were able to meet with my dad, he wouldn’t be allowed to talk.

- Dilgam Asgarov is a Russian citizen. You have applied to Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia for his help

- I have applied to Putin for two times. They responded that my application was recorded.

- Do you keep your dad’s letters? Are there any letters that are unknown to the media?

- Of course, I do. Some contents of the letters were deleted by the Red Cross Committee. He wrote his moral advice to me in his letters. He advised me to be far from bad habits. He is concerned about his father’s health. He himself has health problems. When we saw my dad on TV (during his `trial`) he seemed ill and looked too weak. In her letter to dad my mom asked why did he lose so much weight? He said jokingly, he was on a “diet”.

- Bako Sahakyan, the `president` of the so-called Nagorno Karabakh asked to exchange Ramil Safarov with hostages. What can you say about it?

-Ramil Safarov is a national hero of Azerbaijan. My dad and Shahbaz are two brave sons of this country. Azerbaijani Government will never agree to give any of its citizens to enemy. The whole Azerbaijan is waiting for them to return. I do believe, my dad will come back!!!

Note, in July of this year, Russian citizen Dilgam Asgarov and Azerbaijani citizen Shahbaz Guliyev were taken hostage and another Azerbaijani citizen Hasan Hasanov was shot to death by the Armenian servicemen while trying to visit their homeland in Kalbajar.

Hasan Hasanov’s body was taken from the enemy and buried in Baku.

On December 19, 2014, the “court” of the separatist regime in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh sentenced Dilgam Asgarov to life in prison, Shahbaz Guliyev to 22 years in prison.
