Azerbaijan, Pakistan to co-op in energy sector
Azerbaijan and Pakistan intend to sign a memorandum for energy sector cooperation.
Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry noted in a message issued Nov. 26 that the two countries’ cooperation was discussed at a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and the Pakistan State Oil Company’s CEO and Managing Director Sheikh Imran ul Haque.

“Talks on signing of a memorandum [for energy sector cooperation] are underway between governments of Azerbaijan and Pakistan at the level of working groups,” said the ministry. “Azerbaijan is ready to support the development of energy sector cooperation with Pakistan.”

“Azerbaijan has reinforced ties with the energy systems of neighboring countries, which, in the long run, makes it possible to transmit electricity to Pakistan,” the message quoted Minister Aliyev as saying.

According to the ministry, the meeting also discussed the prospects for creation of an infrastructure to transport oil products and liquefied natural gas to Pakistan.
