Karen Oganjanyan is the only man in Armenia who apologized to Azerbaijan for the Khojaly tragedy.
A photo of Azerbaijani human rights activist, head of the Azerbaijan national committee of the Helsinki Civil Assembly Arzu Abdullayeva with one of the representatives of the Helsinki Civil Assembly on Nagorno Karabakh Karen Oganjanyan was spread on Facebook.

The photo was taken in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Karen Oganjanyan criticizes the government of Armenia. He is also the only man in Armenia who apologized to Azerbaijan for the Khojaly tragedy. Oganjanyan said this in 2009 in an interview with Azadlyg radio:

“I am the only man in Armenia who apologized to the Azerbaijani people for violence against the civilians in Khojaly. We must try to prevent any cases of violence between our peoples in the future.
“We should spare no effort to start the reconciliation process for our peoples to live in peace. Khojaly is a very bitter fact in our history. We must not forget this and should try to prevent the repetition of such events in the future”.
