Denmark Holding Referendum on Joining EU Justice Policy Thursday
If the Danes support the move to become a part of the joint legal system of the European Union, Copenhagen will opt-in to 22 acts that regulate the country`s compliance with EU initiatives on participation in the European police system, human trafficking and child pornography policies.
Denmark is holding a referendum on Thursday to decide whether to join EU`s justice and home policy.

Denmark is not the member of EU`s justice policy due to the terms of its membership in the 28-nation bloc.

If the Danes support the move to become a part of the joint legal system of the European Union, Copenhagen will opt-in to 22 acts that regulate the country`s compliance with EU initiatives on participation in the European police system, human trafficking and child pornography policies.

According to the results of a Megafon opinion poll, almost 40 percent of voters are expected to vote in favor of joining the EU justice policy, while nearly 43 percent are expected to oppose the move.

About 17 percent of voters are still undecided, which could affect the final results, according to the poll.

Previously, the referendum was scheduled for 2016, but it was moved up to December 2015 to not coincide with the British referendum on EU membership, expected to be held by the end of 2017.
