The oil workers who are still on the platform of Azerbaijan’s offshore Guneshli field have not been affected by fire, the special headquarters established to handle the incident.
SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev is at the scene and a helicopter of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was involved in the site. A rescue boat will soon be withdrawn from the site.
Moreover, the fire on the platform continues. Because of the high waves, fire vessels can not approach directly to the platform.
A strong fire took place at the platform No.10 of Azerbaijan’s offshore Guneshli field on Dec.4 at 17:40 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). The fire at the platform was caused by the windstorm, which damaged a gas line. No human losses were reported.
