Tbilisi, Baku and Ankara to discuss cooperation on defense
Georgian and Azerbaijani defense ministers will discuss bilateral cooperation during their meeting in Nakhchivan.


The trilateral meeting of Georgian, Turkish and Azerbaijani defense ministers is planned for Tuesday, Georgian ministry`s press service reported.

They will discuss prospects of trilateral cooperation with the focus on joint protection of strategic energy and transportation infrastructure in the region. In particular, they will touch upon the actions of their armed forces to protect railways, pipelines in case of military escalation, Novosti Gruziay reported.

“I want to reiterate that it is directed only to the protection and safety regulation of the defense issue. This is not a step against someone. On the contrary, the agreement is an additional basis for stability in the region,” Georgian PM Irakly Alaslania said.
