Anti-Corruption event in Vienna
The fourth session of the IACA`s Assembly of Parties, hosted in Vienna, Republic of Austria.

Representatives voiced their strong support for IACA and underlined the importance of its global work in anti-corruption, education, research, networking, and cooperation. The Assembly reiterated that the anti-corruption capacity-building activities provided by IACA could further contribute to the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Kamran Aliyev, chief of the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office and deputy of Prosecutor General run the Azerbaijani delegation in the event.

The officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan also attended the event, AzVision. as reports citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General`s Office.

K.Aliyev attended the event on behalf of Zakir Garalov, Azerbaijani Prosecutor General who run the presidency of the third session of the Assembly hosted in Azerbaijan. Aliyev gave detailed information related to the recent anti-corruption measures taken in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, Aliyev exemplified the operation of the ‘ASAN’ service as successful institutional measures. Moreover, Aliyev touched on the fruitful international cooperation of the Republic of Azerbaijan to fight against this social problem.

Five countries became the member of the Academy in terms of the successful operation of the Assembly in Azerbaijan. In this regard, 65 countries joined and ratified the treaty. The contribution of Azerbaijan to the organization was highly evaluated by the Academy.

In regard to the regulations of the Assembly, Nigeria will run the presidency of the session.

Candidates from the following countries were elected as members of the Board of Governors, where they will serve in their individual capacities: Iraq (Asia Pacific Group), Chile (GRULAC), Azerbaijan (Eastern European Group), Brazil (GRULAC), Nigeria (African Group), Thailand (Asia Pacific Group), and Jordan (Asia Pacific Group).

Vusal Huseynov, the member of the Azerbaijani Parliament was elected as a member of the board of directors for 6 years regarding the contribution of Azerbaijan in the operation of the organization.

Galib Israfilov, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria attended the session.

The necessity of a suitably well-funded general budget for IACA, and the need for financial ownership, were major themes at the Assembly. This was emphasized by H.E. Margarita Popova, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Martin Kreutner, IACA`s Dean and Executive Secretary, and several other speakers. Ms. Popova made her remarks during her presentation of the Board`s report on the progress of IACA`s activities over the past year.

Delegates also attended two side events within the framework of the Assembly.The journals on the anti-corruption measures in the Republic of Azerbaijan were presented to the session participants.

The other side event focused on "Training the Next Generation of Anti-Corruption Enforcers". This gave delegates a chance to hear firsthand from faculty and alumni about the impact that diverse IACA programmes, including the Master in Anti-Corruption Studies (MACS), IACA Summer Academy, and many more, are making on their careers and lives.
