Azerbaijan uses satellite images in search of missing oilmen
The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) continues working to eliminate the consequences of the accident that occurred on Platform 10 at the Gunashli offshore field on December 4.
The Vikhr-5 and Vikhr-8 firefighter ships of the ministry’s State Fire Protection Service are working at the site on a continuous basis, the ministry told, AzVision.az reports.

Furthermore, the Sanmar and Svetlomor-2 ships of the ministry’s Basin Accident-Rescue Service are monitoring the site to detect possible oil spill.

The ministry’s two helicopters and a BE-200ÇS amphibious plane as well as the Special Risk Rescue Service and the State Water Rescue Service are searching for the missing oil workers.

“We are also using high-definition satellite images presented by Azercosmos OJSC and the EU Search and Rescue Centre through the State Maritime Administration in search of the missing,” said the ministry.
